COMING DOWN TO ADO EKITI
Having received the directive to come down to Ado Ekiti in the month of December year 2000 to pioneer the House of Faith Christian Centre with a mandate to bring out the best in people, Rev Tunde Afe took time to prepare seeking Gods face. Meanwhile while in a Ministers Retreat at the Faith Tabernacle Ota, as Dr Myles Munroe was ministering, God spoke through him saying “If God has sent you to a remote place for ministry, what are you waiting for?” because at that time, Ado Ekiti was far from what we see today. Immediately, Gods servant knew he was the one God was talking to.
Consequently, in April 2001, he resigned from his very lucrative job with the United Parcel Service [UPS], an American multi-national corporation. Towards the end of that same month he also resigned from his Pastoral work with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 3. Thereafter arrangement began in top gear to relocate the family to Ado Ekiti so that God’s mandate for House of Faith could be started.
Immediately arrangement was made to get the family down to Ado Ekiti. God’s servant, Rev. Tunde Afe got to Ado Ekiti with his family on the 31st of August, 2001 with N 700 to kick start the ministry (so to say). N 700! ……. Only God can finance His work?
COMMISSIONING OF HOUSE OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTRE
On the 7th of November 2001, the commissioning the Ministry was commissioned and services began in full force.
HFCC AT OMOLAYO GLASS HOUSE, OJUMOSE
The Ministry began at Omolayo Glass House, Ojumose at the reception of a church member’s office. The maximum capacity of the reception was seven (7) people. The Church eventually took over the entire office space with maximum sitting capacity of 50 people when the owner who was a church member relocated to Lagos. It was at Omolayo glass house that the church celebrated the 1st year anniversary. The church had to move after the 1st year anniversary because the facility became too small for us.
HFCC AT DAREX GUEST HOUSE
In 2002, House of Faith Christian Centre relocated to make use of a facility in Darex Guest House along Adebayo. Being what it is…a guest house, very prominent then was that when service was going on, some people will come there to drink, smoke and will be making jests of us. They intentionally do things to impede us and make us weary, but Gods servant was not deterred, like a child’s play, we kept moving and the work was growing. House of Faith Christian Centre moves on…….
HFCC TENT CATHEDRAL AT LITTLE BY LITTLE ROAD, ADEBAYO
While at Darex Guest House, a Mrs Olojede heard the Word of God as preached by Gods Servant, Rev. Tunde Afe and got blessed and consequently met with the Set man. She was the one that God used to donate a plot of land along little by little road that the Ministry can use temporarily for Church Service. This was in 2003.
It was on this property that the Church constructed what was fondly referred to as the “Tent Cathedral” which was done with bamboos, sticks and carpet and canopy which were used for the roof. At two different instances, there were heavy downpour, the first was when we were holding service at the venue and the rain fell everywhere around us, but the rain did not fall on the exact place where we put our equipment. It was perfectly dry. Amazing wonder of God! At the other instance, we were holding service while the rain fell and amazingly the rain fell all around us except at the location of the Tent Cathedral. What a wonder working God we serve.
I personally paused here at the compilation of this brief story to ask Gods servant what kept him moving at those times despite all contradiction?
In his response: “The voice of God that I heard before I left Lagos kept me going. Even now that voice is still as fresh as yesterday.”
HOUSE OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTRE AT PARKVIEW HOTEL FOR FREE!
It was a major breakthrough for the Ministry in 2004 when the owner of Parkview Hotel at Housing Estate, Afao road gave us their banquet hall to use for a year free of charge. The venue also doubles as the Church Office. At the expiration of the one year, in 2005, House of Faith Christian Centre moved on…
HFCC AT SPACE AGE COMPOUND, OLORA, ADEBAYO
In 2005, House of Faith Christian Centre moved to the former mechanic garage at Space Age Compound, Olora layout, Adebayo. Being formerly a mechanic garage, it had a ram on which we put a wooden podium that we used as the alter. Having been previously occupied by domestic animals, we put the place in good shape and had an exciting time worshiping God there. As though we have come to a place to stay, NO! God would have us move again and House of Faith Christian Centre has since been on the move.
HOUSE OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTRE AT PETIM BUILDING
In the same year 2005, House of Faith Christian Centre moved to Petim Building, a more visible location along Opopogbooro, UNAD road. The ministry spent about two years at this location. Again, we moved!
HOUSE OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTRE AT DAVE HOTELS
In the year 2007, House of Faith Christian Centre moved to Dave Hotels along University of Ado Ekiti Road, Ado. At Dave Hotels, the ministry kept waxing stronger despite all challenges. Over the years the ministry has churned out thousands of mobile men and women who were on transit at a point in time in Ado Ekiti either as students, youth corps member or entrepreneur who are now all over the world doing exploits.
While the ministry was at Dave Hotels, God blessed us with a 6 plots of land located right at the core of Ado Ekiti at Akin Akeju Street, Opposite University Teaching Hospital. On a fateful Wednesday, church members have come to the church venue for service but the management locked the door against us insisting we will not have access to the venue, not even to our own equipments inside. The set man, Rev Tunde Afe, undaunted asked members if they will hold service with him outside which we did. He immediately announced the Church relocation the following Sunday to the Church site under construction.
HOUSE OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTRE AT AKIN AKEJU STREET
On the 15th day of August, 2009, House of Faith Christian Centre relocated to her present location, a 1000 seater auditorium under construction, having no roof and the flooring yet to be done. The Church was predominantly made up of students before this time who have eventually graduated, and now either work on jobs or own their own businesses and have now become family men and women. As at the time of going to press with this publication, the church building is near completion having spent millions of naira given majorly by members of the church. We trust God for the full completion of the church building in the course of the 2012. Indeed we have seen the faithfulness of God. Our God has done wonders at the House of Faith. The God of Rev Tunde and Lola Afe is a faithful God.
